So good to be home....

It was a fun, crazy weekend away. We shopped like mad women and ate almost nothing and drove through a snow storm but we made it! The wallets are many many dollars lighter and hopefully the kids will love their Christmas presents.

It was funny (as in funny interesting) to watch us on this trip. Two of us were on a mission. We had lists in our head, things to buy, people to cloth and stockings to fill, while two of us were on a girls weekend away, filled with trying random things on, coffee breaks, having their make-up done and leisurely shopping for cool stuff. We would laugh amongst ourselves about this when we met up in food fairs or accidentally in random stores.

Can you guess which category I fell into? I'll give you a hint, I stood for over and hour in Build-a-Bear.

One thing none of us did much of was...enjoy our food. The food was terrible! I'm not much of a foody and mostly it just needs to keep me going but...woah there are some BAD places to eat in Arlington, WA. We had some great chocolate though which (almost) made up for it.

Before last year, I had never taken a trip away with friends. I think it's a wonderful refreshing thing for moms to do. I feel ready to tackle what the rest of the month has to offer.

When I came home and started to read some of my close friend's blogs I realized how trite and sort of flaky my little notes are so, consider this your cookie break for the day. In-between reading of the sorrow and pain and deep considerations going on in other women's brains come to my little place and have a coffee. I am thinking those things, I'm just not sure how to share them in this format.

I also realized, when I got home, that I'd hardly taken time to think, or to pray. I'm not completely done my Christmas shopping but I hope I'm almost there so that I can take the rest of the month to treasure my family and do the things that really matter:) Enjoy the snow! We got some more here and it's lovely.

I am so glad you had a great weekend, I was thinking about you (for real I was) wishing I was there with you shopping like crazy......hmmmm.

I think my blog falls into the same category as yours. mostly entertainment with a bit of substance tossed in here and there.

I'm so happy that you had a good weekend away, and totally agree with how rejuvenating it can be. I only started doing it last year, too. It was super.

I do agree that there are many gifted, profound bloggers out there...but there's many 'normal' people, too. Which is good for me, because I'd be too intimidated to blog otherwise :)

I like us regular gal bloggers! We get to be ourselves and relax and enjoy each other. And your blog is not fluff, you often touch me and make me think and question my life.
Love you muchly, I so ached to be with you this weekend, a shopper on a mission:)
I have been thinking a lot about the issue of time with God and praying. I have not done near enough of that lately. Saturday morning, my babes came to bed in the wee hours and were restless. Sleep was done for me. So I found myself talking to God, praying for all my blog friends actually, and random people with sick children whose blogs I have been drawn to lately. And my friends and family. I often say a quick prayer for those people but it felt really wonderful to just pour out my heart to God.

Can I have hot chocolate and whipped cream instead of coffee?

Glad you had fun...am envious. I need that myself.

I'm looking forward to having a girl's weekend again...glad you had fun!

I don't think that your posts have to be profound to touch people. Sometimes just the little things you talk about from your life will hit people where they need it....sometimes there's too much substance out there, and a little light chat is what's called for!

From your profile, you and I have a lot in common. I read the Secret Garden at least twenty times before I had kids. Now I've read it outloud to my kids twice as well as The Little Princess. I tried a couple of days ago to start reading that to my kids for the third time, but they protested so much, I gave in and didn't! :-( I also LOVE french press coffee and have it every morning, so I loved the picture you included. I have been enjoying reading through your past entries tonight! I know what you were trying to say in this post. I've had similar thoughts myself, but we all blog for different reasons and our blogs have different "flavors". My flavor is lighthearted and I've accepted that. You know what I mean? Anyway, this is a long way to say, "Nice to meet you!" :-)
