counting all kinds of blessings.....

My kids have no idea the amazing life they have and nor should they really, they're just kids living their lives. But it is great! They're safe and happy and loved.

They're surrounded by love actually.

Why am I even thinking about this? My mom and dad just sent these pictures taken while they were here for Christmas. Because the boys had friends coming from out of town Grandma and Grandpa decided to take the girls on a special trip to ride the "horses". It was amazing! They talked about the cool old carousel and how it was restored (I guess there was a movie) for weeks.

I mean how great does this look?!

Although, I don't have any pictures because I'm kind of out of picture mode these days, (I spend months documenting everything and then inexplicably I'm just done) the younger kids spent the day on Friday with their Grandparents on my husbands side. They are still talking about it today. Secret plans for Valentine's Day and long tea parties and rides on the swing were had by all.

....surrounded by love....

Both sides of our family love and treasure them as intensely as we do! It's so great for the kids because they feel totally loved and cherished and it's so great for me because it takes some of the pressure off . I don't have to be quite as fun cuz that's Grandma's job - both Grandmas. (and Grandpa too but these days it's mostly about Grandma- don't you worry Grandpas, your time will come...)

It works great for everyone and the kids win! Thank you Lord for Grandma's and Grandpas! YAY!

(edited Jan 17 to answer Chey's question)
The carousel is in Burnaby Heritage Park. It's been totally refurbished and costs $2 a ride although I believe you can buy a pass.

Aww, I feel the same way when I talk about my own kids.

Where is that carousel? It is beautiful, I want to make note of it so we can take our kids there the next time we make it down that way.

What a lovely post...you are right, our kids have no idea how privileged they are. Sometimes that frustrates me, but mostly I'm just thankful that we are able to provide a loving, stable and safe environment for the children.

I love that your kids are so close to their grandparents. That's becoming more and more uncommon these days, with families uprooting and moving across country, across continent, etc.

Your children are truly blessed. I agree with Heidi - children don't know how privilieged they are and in a way I think that's fine - isn't it wonderful to just feel like so much love is the norm?

What sweet photos. I'm glad that your kids are so surrounded by love that they don't even have to be aware of it because they have no idea that it could be any other way. That's how kids should feel.

You really do have wonderful family Shay and it is terrific that they are so close and involved. I am so pleased that we can offer that to our kids once again.
We do have really fortunate children and I am so glad.

I love grandparents! My mum, my nanna and I are really close and people always comment when we are out together how nice it is that we spend time together. Hopefully I will have a little girl one day and we can make it 4 generations!

I love that. Grandma's and Grandpa's are so important for kids to have. I miss mine regularly.

Grandpa's and Grandma's are the absolute best! When we are driving in the car, depending on the direction, Jacob will say, "Grandpa's house" or "Nana's house". Love it.

Hi Shay,

I can't believe that you've lived all the same places as I have! How bizarre! When did you lived in FSJ?

And also, how great is that carousel! I wonder if I could fit one in my backyard...

Amen to that Shay!! And one day (hopefully) we will get to provide all the fun :)

Very nice post! And, your kids are lucky - so are mine!! I'm glad our kids are living such lovely lives and have people surrounding them that care so much about their happiness and their well-being! We are lucky too! See ya. Kellan

it works the other way too. Children don't know they are underpriviledged until they get older and realise that other children get more than them. They can be very humble.

That is so cool about your kids and their grandparents. My kids just have one side of grandparents like that but they make so much of my kids, that they make up for it. It IS a blessing!

I tell my kids that our life may not seem as glamorous as some of their friends but at least we've provided them with a stable, intact home.

Later on I'm sure my husband and I will be blamed for a lot of parental shortfalls like all kids do, but we did give them a good foundation in life.
