Snow, rain, oceans, ski hills and old friends....

Sorry I'm been a bit mia. Our friends arrived Wednesday afternoon with their eight great kids in tow and I've been otherwise occupied since then.

We had a wonderful time!

Thursday was supposed to be spent at the Vancouver Aquarium BUT the dad's ended up working too long and the aquarium is on winter hours so....

Off we went to the beach. It was raining and windy but oh so fun! The kids made discovery after discovery in the tide pools.

Check out all the great shells we found!!!! (remember these are prairie kids!)

The ran through the sand and puddles getting water into their snow boots and not really caring in the excitement of it all.

It was cold, and relaxing and beautiful...

Check out this angry sky as the rain began to come down...

It was amazing. We could see the weather coming on the horizon long before it got to us!

Bree is officially a beach dog. This was her first beach trip and she ran and ran, loving every minute of her adventure!

A trip to the beach is not complete with out a snack! The sea gulls almost mobbed us when they noticed the kids got more chips on the ground than in their mouths!

In looking back at all these photos I was suprised at how much the light changed. It went from light to dark back to light again, all in the course of two hours. We had sun, rain, hail and wind but no one minded, we were having too much fun exploring!

The next day the older kids spent at Mount Baker skiing and I have no photographic evidence. Hopefully our friends took some snaps?!

Then we had to say goodbye. It was a short visit but wonderful. There's nothing like old friends!

How perfect. Those are great memories there.
We used to go to Lake Michigan in the middle of winter and have picnics on the beach. In the snow. It was beautiful. I'll always remember our snowy winter picnics.
Glad you had fun with your friends!

Wow. That looks wonderful. It looks like home to me, but then again we live in very similar territories.

What a gorgeous gang of kids. You are very lucky to have such special friends.

looks like you had a fantastic time!!

That picture of the "angry sky" as it started to rain, is amazing. In fact it's enlargement and hang on the wall worthy, I love it.

I can't imagine all the noise there must have been at your house during this visit!!!

wow that looked like so much fun!!!!!! I loved exploring when I was a child. We are goign to our shack again this weekend as it is summer here, I love the water, the boat and the beach. We are going childless as the children get over-excited and are very hard to contain!

I have been playing with 2 puppies we have accumulated...

I can't get over how grown up the boys look. They are so handsome and sweet. And look at the gorgeous girls!

Looks like fun. How do you lose a kid between the first picture on your post and the last? Tee hee.

Old friends visiting is the best way to spend your weekend.

Hey, I thought Canada was nothing but snow and ice during the winter?!!?

I just listened to this piece on the HGTV channel on my satellite radio and they were talking about decorating with seashells and all the really easy projects you can do yourself including a seashell chandelier. It sounded interesting and it looks like you can score your own shells for cheap right where you live.

Oh, and we live about an hour away from Galveston Island but the beach there is usually grungy with petroleum stains, litter, and dead jellyfish. You can't take decent pictures of the ocean either because the view is full of offshore oil rigs. Yeah, you guys win the scenic beach prize!

What fun! I love it when we can take our seven kids to visit with friends and they don't even bat an eye. Those are our real friends:)

Great pictures. Thanks for the link to the Daughter info. I'm going to see if our local library will carry it.

You always post the coolest family pictures. I'm a sucker for the little girls (just as Miss Sniz).

My kids are going a little stir crazy this winter. It has been sooo cold. But, your post has inspired me to try to get them outside. Maybe a nice winter snow hike this weekend.

Congrats on your cool award :)
I love the title of your post because that's like a perfect day if you ask me (maybe except for the rain, but oh well).

The kids' pictures are adorable.
