I'm sitting here enjoying a moment of blog reading (seriously have you read the Pioneer Woman? Hilarious! and I teeny bit crazy. Just how I like 'em!) while behind me my two youngest play and watch Narnia on the big screen.
I've started to notice something about my girls. They argue. All. The. Time. Is this normal? Should they argue about everything? I'm not even sure if arguing quite describes it. They just sort of snip at each other, or instruct each other continually. I don't have a sister so please help me out here. I've heard my Nanny (in her 80's) and her sisters talk to each other like this but I hoped it was just them? I guess I kind of imagined sisters braiding each other's hair and telling secrets like best friends. I know, I know, there are unicorns and dancing rainbows in my world too!
Here was this moments conversation:
"Bella, Bella", my youngest calls to her sister's toy.
"Amelia!" spoken sharply with the best six year old, Know-it-all voice, "I'm Rosabell!!!"
I mean, really. Doesn't everyone know this. A. being the great little sis that she is, doesn't miss a beat and just switches names. She's not to be outdone though and starts instructing on another point.
It's amazing to me to hear these two argue and chat, chat and argue. I guess under it all they really are the best of friends. I pray they stay that way. I would have given anything to have a sister. They won't understand this feeling, of course, because they've always had one but hopefully they grow to be best friends AND sisters.
Oh and here's a shout out to my niece who turned nine yesterday. We kinda "share" kids and you add her into the mix...yikes. It's like listening to the funniest, cutest group of fishwives on the planet!

My kids bicker a lot, but they are really good friends. And compared to a lot of other siblings, even their bickering isn't so bad. From what you describe here, I wouldn't worry at all - I think your girls sound perfectly normal and happy :)

PS: Happy B-day to your niece!
I ONLY know about fighting kids, but don't really have a clue why they feel the need to fight so much!! Cute pictue and Happy Birthday to your neice. See you soon - Kellan
my sisters and i would fight like crazy when we were younger, seriously it use to bring my mom to tears. now we are all best friends. not a day goes by that i don't talk to them. so i think it might just be part of growing up.
Yep that is what sisters do. Boys tend to yell or hit and then it is over. Girls nip at each other continually.
Funny, we have been privately calling Bella 'the fishwife' lately.
Happy Birthday to Emilee!
Love you guys.
I don't know about all siblings, but my sister and I fought ALL THE TIME when we were little. There was constant bickering over EVERYTHING. It pretty much lasted until my sister left home, I'm afraid to say. But now we're really close, if that helps.
I don't have siblings to compare to, but they sound normal to me. In a way maybe it's good that they feel free to be open with each other in that way. Like they don't have to monitor every thing they say. I've heard sisters are the closest adult relationship besides marriage, so this is probably just a normal part of development. Seems like when they get older they'll appreciate each other more. They are cuties, though!!!
Our girls fight, too. But they also love each other. Sometimes they will play together all day and have a blast. However, they don't normally acknowledge how much they care for each other (at least, not that we've seen).
In my experience, girls use words, boys use force (in general). I find my girls and their friends to be so bossy and snippy with one another.
Sometimes mine can go from fun to fighting within seconds. It does get old, sometimes.
Sadie always tells me I'm Tansey and SHE'S Rosabelle.
My girls definitely fight all the time, and they are five years apart! But they love as hard as they fight, too. Nobody has a bond like them.
My girls have a real love/hate relationship. All very bipolar really. One minute they're playing with dolls and painting each other's toenails or whatever, giggling and squealing like banshees. The very next minute, they're yelling and wrestling on the floor trying to kill each other. Almost day I smile at their friendship, and almost every day I remind them not to hit.
I don't have a sister either. But I'm thinking this must be pretty normal. Either that, or there are a LOT of abnormal people out there.
