okay so lets do this thing....

Well I did it! I actually registered myself and my gals for our first half marathon! YIKES! How did this come about? Why? What?
I have no answers for you other than, I talk about it for long enough, I'm just gonna have to do it!

The race takes place in beautiful Victoria on October 12, 2008. I have no idea if I'll be ready. I'm never run farther than 13 km and this is a 22km race so....training here we come! We have this handy dandy 12 week training program that we need to start in the middle of July. I think it will be a great thing to train and plan for. I'm not sure how I'll fit it in to my schedule but I'm excited to try.

In other news....
I'm official middle aged. Sad but true! We went to a wedding this weekend for the younger sister of one of my best friends. I've known the bride since she was 1 I think! Her sister and I (12 and 13 years older respectively) used to drag her and her little bro around like little dolls. It was an honor to be invited to see her get married. And she was a beautiful bride. It was a little strange though, to be one of the older people at the wedding! VERY strange because I still feel like one of those 20is people rather than a 30ish people.

Here's Kev and I all dressed up like real live adults....

Wow, I am so impressed. That is a very long run girl! I know you guys will do great.

You and Kev look awesome. Even for middle aged folk... hee hee. Older is feeling exhausting to me right now. time for another nap.

You are NOT middle aged!!! You just CAN'T be because that would mean I AM and I AM NOT!!! he he he

You two look fantastic and very young. Best of luck with your 1/2 marathon. You can so do it. I did one last year and you have been training so much more lately. The 12 week training schedules are great - stick to it and it will help you.

I've harboured a dream of running a half marathon for so long....I was hoping to do it this fall, but I don't know anymore. I am so out of shape. I am going to look at your 12 week program and see if it looks at all survivable for someone padded from a year of chocolate :)

Good luck to you - I think you are doing GREAT (and you do NOT look/act/think/talk middle-aged).

You will do fabulous on the half marathon!!!!

I, on the other hand, have determined that running is not "my thing". Ever.

I admire you.

I also think you are slightly nutty, but I still admire you.

I feel the same way. When I watch sports on TV I really do think that the players are the same age as myself. I just know they are:)

Congrats on signing up for the half marathon. You're going to do great!!

What a beautiful picture. You guys look GREAT! And you go, girl. My friend Jeanine over at Roots (blogger) just ran her first half marathon. Made me wish I didn't have Scoliosis or I just might want to train myself (not that my next door neighbor having just completed her first mini triathelon adds to that pressure or anything, lol).
Blessings,

As I'm nearing my 34th birthday on Tuesday I've been thinking about how I don't feel mid 30-ish yet.

Likely, it's just my own immaturity. :) It's easier to be young and have the youth thing as an excuse for doing stupid stuff.

You and your man look great!

What a great goal! Those training plans come in handy. My marathon plan starts the beginning of July. I can't wait to have something telling me what to do.

I agree you are not middle aged! Good luck on your run and thanks for the workout link. Who knows in a year I might follow in your footsteps.
