Another year is almost done...

school/dance and sport year that is.
I can't believe how many things we've packing into the last week and are continuing to pack into the next few.

In the world of my oldest son:

Levi got an amazing opportunity to tour EA Games with his dad. His dream is to become a programmer and this was a unique and amazing opportunity for him. They don't give many tours and he had to get special permission, assuring them he had some actually programming knowledge and wasn't just on a Looky-lou. Here they are....he's so excited he can hardly contain himself!

How did he come by this ability to write code you may ask? NO IDEA! And certainly not from me. I'm becoming more and more proud of the person he's growing into. He never ceases to amazing me!
Another thing that boggles me, how can someone who teaches himself C++ not be able to find his own socks? Mystery of the Universe that one!

Son number two:

After attending his sister's recital, Isaac has decided he'd like to try dance. My husband gave me "the look" but we're going to give it a go. This kid has been moving to music since he was a wee babe. He really SHOULD dance! Here he is with Gramma and Grandpa Reid (and our little Rockin' Robin after the show).

He finishes his swimming lessons today and soccer ends next week. WHEW. It's tough work being a kid these days!

What about the girls? :

I seem to always lump them together but they do hang quite a bit. Some days my older daughter comes and asks for a little "alone time" read: no little sister bugging her. It's something about how Amelia doesn't follow "the rules". I'm not sure how makes these rules but they MUST BE FOLLOWED!

Maddy went to a Grade one class once a week this year. They had a little wind up where they got to ride horses and later play & eat in the gym.

On Saturday we celebrated a long awaited birthday with cousin Emilee at Build-a-Bear. I'm a party mom, doncha know?!
Here's the gang waiting for it to start...

They had games for the kids to play and....

they even made the "party moms" play! Good times!

and then we raced back to Amelia's Tiny dance graduation...

and then back to the party...check out all the new Build a Bears, because we don't have enough stuffies in our houses...

So that brings up to last Saturday....
What have I been doing you ask? Driving mostly.

You need one of those bumper stickers that say, "How can I be a stay at home mom when I'm always in my car?"

I liked doing all that. Not so much now. After working all day I want to stay home when I get here.

I love Build a Bear! Sounds like you've had a lot going on. Are you still finding the time to run?

Hope you have a great summer!

Busy, but fun. I love end of the year type activities- the culmination of all that learning and work.

Now on to summer!

Yup, that sure does sound like a lot of driving to me! I like klin's comment about the bumper sticker :)
Here's to summer!

What? No summer sports? Hee. The year-end stuff is crazy, with the recitals and award ceremonies and such. I look forward to the summer when we ONLY have to drag ourselves out to the soccer field three times a week!

My husband would be mighty jealous of the EA tour. I think being a game developer would be his dream job (he taught himself programming too, as did my brother - they have both made good careers out of it.)

I am SOOOOO glad the school year is almost over. The only think we have that runs through the summer is Taw Kwon Do and we can maybe handle that.

I am beginning to hate my car.

This is such an amazing coincidence, but I actually work for EA Games, at the Virginia location. I don't mention it on my blog because I haven't wanted it to be about work, but maybe I will some time. My husband and I both work there and know how lucky we are to have gotten our foot in the "industry door" when we did.

I'm so impressed your son is following his dream and I wish him the best of luck. Let me know if he has any questions and I'll do my best to answer them! (ebarr@ea.com)

Your family is so cute! And your kids seem so...interesting....lots of different interests there. It's so cool that you've been able to give each of them opportunities to try out the new things they like. I want to do that when my kids are old enough. For now all we know is that Michael likes things with wheels, and this new baby on the way...well they seem to like peaches and hot sauce (not together though!). We'll see where that leads us!
Btw...I love build a bear. I've gone there several times and made animals for myself, um, I mean Michael. It's so much fun!!!
