my week so far

The days seem to race by and I mean to write but then...well I just don't do I?!

If you've been following along you know my girls take dance. Last Saturday was a crazy one filled with dance photos, an open house at hubby's cousins new house (which included a gawk at the new baby too) and even a dinner party at friends. Why spread things out when you can do everything all on one day?!

Anywho, here are the cutest little lions in the world waiting for their slot with the photographer. My littlest munchkin is on the far left...

And here is Maddy's ballet class all dressed up as Jasmine from Alladin. I sense a Disney theme coming for this years final recital. Mads is in the far right...

Those headpieces, although not looking too bad in these pics, are a huge pain in the ass! They didn't fit any of the girls properly. I"m not sure how we're going to get them on and be able to actually dance in them on the weekend. Ah well, not my problem as I'm not allowed backstage I don't think. My little bum will be firmly planted in the audience.
The girls have loads of fans (read: Grandparents) coming this week in anticipation of the upcoming exhibition.

Amelia surprised me this year, first with her shear enjoyment of dance lessons AND secondly with her desire to be on stage. Can this really be my child? and she wants to perform? In front of people?

Oh and in other news. Amelia visited the dentist for the first time and there is to be no more of this....

She is changing the shape of her palate and the dentist feels she may need an apparatice to stop sucking. We're trying the yucky nail polish stuff first. So far, its working although, she is NOT happy about the whole thing!

Those dance pictures are adorable. My oldest has her final recital (lots of bagpipes!) on Wednesday night, then we're done with dance until September.

I sucked my thumb too. My parents got me to stop (at age 5!) by making a star on my thumb with permanent marker to remind me not to suck on it anymore. Somehow, it worked (my brother may or may not have told me that the marker was poisonous. hee)

Ah! they are way too adorable! I wish I was gonna be there for their recital.
Good luck with the thumb sucking. I so need to get on that with Jude. We just had our consult at ortho with B and it is gonna be 7000 bucks to fix his mouth. I so don't want to have to take Jude too.
By the way, the icky stuff? didn't work for me, I sucked it off, after washing a lot. The appliance? I sucked around it. I was stubborn.

Cute little dancers. My bigger ones get to dance in the Stadium of Fire this year. Exciting and crazy, too.

My 12 year old was born sucking her thumb and if she isn't busy doing something like when she's watching TV, out comes the thumb even now 12 years later! We tried the hot sauce approach. She's half Mexican. She LOVED the hot sauce and asked for more to be poured on her thumb.

It's interesting to note that your two girls are so different. One is on the far right and the other on the far left. :)

They're both cute, though.

Aaannnddd, one last comment since I've been terrible at returning blog comments lately...wouldn't you prefer to have a lot of stuff scheduled for the same day? With the cost of gas the way it is right now I like getting as much done at the same time as possible when we leave the house. The rest of the time we try to stay home to save money.

With big homeschooling families we can't exactly switch to a mini-hybrid car to cut back on fuel, can we?

Look at those adorable, dancing cuties! I hope that Pumpkin enjoys some form of dance one day if only for the cute pictures! :)

My boys were binky boys and we have gone through the round of expanders, braces, and retainers. It's not fun, I must say. Although, my ortho does point out that some kids are going to need orthodontics regardless of whether they sucked their thumb or used a pacifier. Sometimes it's just bad luck.

She looks so cute though sucking her thumb....

The pictures are super cute. Having no girls, it's a joy to see all these little dancers. :)

good luck with the thumb sucking. I was lucky enough to not have it with either of my kids. Although Sadie did have a HUGE obsession with the suckie. My point of view on it was that it was better than the thumb as we can always take it away. I don't envy the parents of thumb suckers. I hope you are able to get her to stop, it can be so frustrating trying to find a suitable substitute for comfort.

Best of luck with the thumb sucking thing. My little one sucked the first two fingers on her left hand (upside down) for five years. She wanted to stop and could not. She tried stuff that tastes bad, tried tying a string on each finger to remind her, tried bandages too. She could stop during the day, but had to suck on them at night to fall asleep.

Then, something horrible happened to her hand. She burned it very badly on the glass of the fireplace, and had to have it bandaged for three weeks.

That was her finger-sucking hand. When the bandages came off, she had broken the habit. Otherwise, I swear she'd still be doing it.
