WARNING!!! whining about weight ahead.....

Ugh!

I've gained 4 lbs this holiday season. I know 4 lbs sounds like nothing, like something I could loose in a weekend but...what if I don't? And why does the terror of this not drive me to drink water and eat carrots? And 4 lbs is a lot if you're running 10 km +. It feels like boulders in your a$s, like each leg now suddenly wears ankle weights. Ugh!

So mission January is ... loose the 4 lbs! Just when I was getting used to the odd Black Russian at night - poo!

...and in other random news....

I'm off to buy new shoes and to sign up for those 10 Km runs that are on my Jan. goal list. If I actually pay for the races, I can't back out OR that's the theory anyway! I'm still in a bit of shock that I'm still running after a year.

Last year at this time me, my sil and her sil all started Weight watchers together. I needed to shed those last 10 -15lbs for good and they both needed to loose 30. .. Amazingly we did it!

Here they are the fab girls, now a combined 60 lbs lighter. I found a nice before one of Randa from a year ago, double chin and all BUT .... she knows where I live!

Last year we started to run together. Slowly at first but eventually added more and more km's and more often until we were running 11 km - 3 times a week together and doing our own thing on the other days.

Despite the 4 lbs I've replaced over Christmas I feel great! Better than I have in years:)

...in other unrelated news....

This is Molly. We're dog sitting her this weekend much to our pooches joy and excitement!
She's our cousin dog so family, really.

We hope to teach our doggies to run with us:) Eventually we'll all be running fools:)

Oh Shay, I hear ya. I've put on weight these months in Norway, don't know how much as we have no scales here, but I can feel it when exercising. It makes a HUGE difference. I'm hoping to lose some before we return to Canada, but will definitely be working them off once I'm back! It sucks!

Yeah for your friends losing 30 pounds each. That's amazing!

Heidi :)

You are an inspiration. YUou go, girl, and when are you going to post a picture of YOU and your bad self? You'll lose 4 pounds since you're running so much...I guarantee it. I used to be a runner myself and plan on being one again when my back injury heals!

Saw your suggestion of buying leather. We thought about it, but decided it wasn't comfortable enough. Was that an issue for you at all?

I don't even want to know how much I've gained over the holidays. You are a braver woman than I to step on a scale

Molly? Absolute cutie!

Good luck with the 4 lbs - I know what you mean - it ISN'T a lot but if you let things creep up it gets out of control. It's a lot easier to lose 4 than 40!

heidi - Being away from home is the hardest BUT i've seen your blog and you guys are waaaaaaay too active for you to put on any real weight. I say enjoy your time and don't worry about it!

Sniz - Once a runner always a runner I say:) Scroll down for pics of me, and I get to control which ones are posted so you won't see anything too nasty or fatty of me either.

Oh and leather is NOT as comfy BUT looks better imho so I just got used to it. Also cleans up better which was the trump card for me.

Margaret - I'd been avoiding it for ages but thought I should take the plunge and just get it over with! Now I know. Now I can't have that drink I was craving, stupid scale!

Don Diva - My thoughts exactly. I can't let the weight gain get over 5 lbs or I start to panic and that's never pretty.

i gained about 4 pounds, too, in addition to the weight I put on slowly over the summer and fall. so it's back to eating less and exercising for me.

I am where you were a year ago, wanting to lose that last 10-15 once and for all. YOu give me hope! :)

You can lose the 4 pounds....I wish I'd started last year and was now where you are!

I don't know about you but when I gain a couple/few pounds I panic a little because my weight got so out of control a few years ago. So 2-4 pounds feels like fast track down the slippery slope. I think/hope I'll get myself to a trusting place where I understand better ebb and flow again and recognize the heads-up for just that.

Good for you with the running!

I love Weight Watchers and it's better with friends.

I'm still trying to lose the baby weight, blech.

Good luck on your diet! You can do it!

What's wrong with you people? How about a comment about the dog photo? That picture is awesome. If it wasn't for the fact that Miss Sniz and I don't want pets right now, I'd run up to the store and buy that exact same dog.

That weight will come off easily once you get back into the swing of things. Good idea to get the doggies to run with you ... Molly is a really nice dog, BTW.
I know I've gained weight since I have been unable to get to the gym in 3 weeks... ugh... darn cough! I'm hoping to get a puffer tomorrow, so I can hopefully get back this week sometime. I'm used to going 3 times a week at least, so I'm in for some major pain ;)

Wow...I feel your pain. But unlike you. I'm too afraid to step on the scale to find out my weight gain. Kudos to you for slapping on those running shoes! I only have one and have zero stamina...I can't imagine how you do it! :)

You have been doing so amazing, I am so proud of you guys for sticking with it.
I feel your pain, I am up at least 6 pounds! Yikes!

I don't think I gained anything over the holidays, but I haven't lost anything either. I would say THIS is my year to start running again (I was a casual runner pre-kids) but really who knows. I was looking at Ice cleats today and might just pick a pair up and go from there.

Good luck and way to go for keeping up on the running, that is awesome!!
